Hate. Dell. So. Much.

Well, I like the laptop hardware(so I thought), but I hate the tech support. It's so hard to make them understand that I'm smarter then them and that they should just send me my damn parts. I've had this laptop about a year and a half, and already, I've replaced

  • Motherboard(Headphone jack issue)
  • Battery(Bad lifespan)
  • Hard Drive (Just crapped out one day)
  • Power Cord(Cable wore through)
  • Power Cord 2( Same issue)
  • Battery 2(Part of the big battery recall thingy)
  • Need to replace the monitor(Weird patterns and a dead spot)
  • And now I'm on chat to replace the motherboard for the same reason.
I know I'm hard on tech. That's why I bought a 4 year accidental damage warranty, but this is beginning to get silly. The worst part isn't even breaking the hardware, it's arguing with the people on the other end of the phone that I know what is wrong, and that they should listen to me. At least I have an excuse to hide in the lounge area of my office at ItOxygen, and listen to more Spamalot. Just a short rant while I wait for my operative to see what she can do for me, which will be send up their certified repairman from Iron Mountain, and have him replace the mobo, and possibly the speakers. Fortunately he will almost certainly be here by Monday.

(Sorry about the tech rant, I really try to keep the blog short on my techie side, but what else was I to do while waiting?)

A friend of mine has the e1705, and it's pretty sweet. I read that you use linux-what distro? Before I turned to macs, I used to play around with mandrake and attempted kubuntu. Sadly, I failed horribly at both :( top

Minx, I go back and forth between KDE and Gnome every few years, and I use Ubuntu at the moment, it's a great distro. And my 9300 is the e1705 before the upgraded it to the 9400/e series.

Chappy! I love the new look! And I'm excited you're blogging more. I'm going to have to stop by here more regularly.

Sorry for the computer troubles. I don't understand a thing about computers, so that's all you'll get from me on that one...
